Donald's post made me think that maybe someone has some ideas on a good dark purple for my area. Think Bela Lugosi, Mary's Baby. I need a darker purple that doesn't brown, blotch, bleach, fade or slick . In my area neither roses nor daylilies are really purple, rather variations on a maroon color, but the picture of Mary's Baby is fairly accurate as to what I've come to accept as purple. Kind of a deep bluish maroon.......I know. Tall order.......Maryl (P.S.) Also, If anyone grows Sledge Hammer I'd like to know your experience.
