Hello-

My name is Erin Chien, (DoubleDogDare here on ATP) and I am the acting Secretary of the Greater St. Louis Iris Society. I also created and am responsible for maintaining GSLIS’s media presence, primarily on Facebook. Part of what I do on our Facebook page is to post photographs and descriptions of various irises, of all types and colors, each day.

I’ve noticed some absolutely stunning photographs that many of you have taken, and would love to share them on our Facebook page. May I have your formal permission to use your photographs, to help share these beautiful irises with the world?

Neither GSLIS nor I will ever profit in any way from the use of your photography, and artistic credit will be given to you each and every time we use one of your photos (I attach the name, hybridizer, year of registration and photography credit directly to each photo), if you decide you’re comfortable with it.

Please let me know, at your convenience, if our use of your photos is something you’d like to grant permission for, and how you’d like the photo credit to read. If you have no preference, I’ll credit your photos as “Photo by ___(your name or garden name here)_______”. If you’re comfortable with me using your photos, but would like the artistic credit stated differently, please let me know, and I’ll be more than happy to comply. If you're okay with my sharing of your photos, just comment below. If you're not comfortable sharing your real name (for photo credit purposes) on this thread , just send me a quick PM.

If you feel like you'd prefer to see how the photos will be used before making your decision, feel free to go to Facebook and look up "Greater St. Louis Iris Society", and you'll see how I post photos. I like to do "themes" with my posts, so as to capture people's interest and keep them coming back. I've done themes on Halloween, the Holidays, the United States, and I'm currently doing a theme on irises named for outer space and the solar system. It's been a lot of fun, and I'm learning more than I ever expected!

Some of you have already granted me permission for the use of your photographs, and some of you may have already, but I don't realize it because your username on here is nothing like your name in real life. If this is the case, please drop me a message and let me know that you've already granted permission and under what name. I do extensive record keeping for GSLIS. We support the Missouri Botanical Garden, and I try to make sure we do things "by the book" so that we can maintain our 501c3 status.

Thank you so much for your consideration, and please, if you’re on Facebook, Like and visit our page frequently, and Like and Share your favorite posts, so that more people can see these amazing flowers that we love so much!!

Sincerely,

Erin Chien (DoubleDogDare)
Secretary
Greater St. Louis Iris Society
