Uh oh. I didn't know Super Dorothy could get that big. It sounds like I have placed a rose in the wrong place once again. Mine is in with flowering plums and Russian Olives. No way could they compete with Super Dorothy if she is anything like New Dawn or Cecile Bruner. The poor iris in that bed won't last long either. When I hear "climber" or "rambler", I think arbor or trellis climbing, not tree climbing! yikes!
How would she respond to pruning to limit the size? I know NEw Dawn, Westerland, Autumn Sunset, and America do ok with some cutting back.
Darlow's Enigma and Paul's Himalayan Musk are assigned to trees by the pond, but neither has climbed more than 4' in 2 years.
Remember that children, marriages, and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get.
