I was in the market for a good garden hoe last year and came across an article discussing scuffle hoes. I did some further research and found several articles that mentioned the Prohoe Rogue scuffle hoe and how good it was. These hoes are made from recycled ag disc blades and they really do stay sharp. The article was on the mark with this hoe. A gentle back-and-forth or side-to-side movement at or just under the soil level cuts the weed from its roots. No bending, no chopping. It even works well to loosen the soil in the flowerbeds. I was hooked. Beside the 8" I ordered the very small 40S (4-inch blade) for weeding in tight areas between plants, and the 110S (11-inch blade) for rapid weeding where plants are farther apart. In addition I ordered their 575G - The "Right" Size Garden Hoe (an all-purpose hoe). Prohoe offers quite a selection of garden tools for the home and professional gardener as well as tools for use by firefighters and conservationists.
These fine tools are not much more costly than what you'd get at Home Depot or Lowes but they are so sturdy and well-constructed that I suspect they'll last long after the others have gone to the big tool shed in the sky! And oh, BYW, the scuffle hoes make quick work of weeding your gardens and flowerbeds....I found I could spend many 15-20 minutes going over all my beds once a week and that was it, I had more time for other garden projects!
