@Kabby,
I am thinking the main reason for both events is the fact the daylilies are planted in the bog, so they get a constant supply of water, plus all the tons of leaves and grass clippings I have added down there. There are normally thousands of earthworms working the area, even though at this time of year I seldom see them., but their castings are obvious throughout the bog bed.
