I get a few weeds...not a lot though. I compost mid-summer. Early enough to bury any weed seeds, and not too late that it covers annual seeds.
I really believe that the more weeds you pull before they go to seed, the fewer weeds you get the following year until eventually weeds aren't even an issue...just the occasional one that blows in or the birds leave behind.
