I have two small ferns in 4" pots that I picked up at the grocery store on a whim. One is a silver lace and the other is an autumn (my closest guess). Just watered them before the pics.
The silver lace is super happy, grows like crazy and looks really nice inside. The autumn is kind of picky, and if it gets even a little dry, leaves shrivel. I swear its a small boston fern in disguise.
I would like to move the autumn outdoors, and plant it in the ground because I don't think it belongs in a pot. Looking for input on whether you've had a fern as houseplant, transplanted to the ground, and it made it over a cold winter (probably lowest temps would be 0 degrees). Or, has anyone kept the autumn indoors? Maybe I just need to move it to a bigger pot and not try to move it outdoors if it's going to die over the next winter.
