Thanks for your good wishes, Annie. My garden, as it consists mostly of perennials and small shrubs, sustained little damage. Two big lilac bushes lost a few branches, but that's about it. The greatest damage took place in the treed, uncultivated areas surrounding the garden. DH and I started picking up fallen branches yesterday and we have weeks, if not months of work, including chain-sawing and log-piling, ahead of us. One thing I am sure of: I want to replace all the willows on my property with oaks. Every willow lost branches of all sizes, while my one oak tree was totally unscathed.
