'First Mate' is a small hosta that is a tetraploid sport of H. sieboldii ‘Kabitan’. I divided mine in 2011 before which it seemed to grow vigourously. I often fully divide and replant in three groups if I've lifted the hosta and usually it results in a much fuller appearance but it didn't work with 'First Mate' and I've gradually pulled it together into a clump.Mine was attacked by slugs when I was away for two weeks in July and went downhill from there. Please feel free to share your pictures of this hosta.
