With on-line security and privacy issues regarding the internet nowadays, many folks are frightened off when asked to supply more exact information as to where they live ... especially many of the older generation and those new to posting on open forums.

From the photo @BeKind posted, it looks as if the plant is being grown indoors and the crispy, brown leaf edges could be due to heat drafts from a vent; or possibly low humidity. My eyes aren't the best but when I enlarged the photo, the soil looks very dry also.
