I've buried celosia, zinnia and some other stuff 1/8" to 1/4", but the cleome wanted to just be pressed into the surface - needs sunlight to germinate. But I only know what I read on the seed packets, unless I ask on the annuals forum here, or Sunset Western Garden Book tells me something. Maybe its time to check out the book list here.
