Bats can carry rabies, but they rarely bite people. We've had the bat folks come and give us a talk about bats at the Extension office a couple of times and they handle the bats very confidently. They are advocating for more people to install bat houses to aid in mosquito abatement, and say that the bat/rabies connection is on par with things like shark bites. Very, very rare considering how many there are around us all the time.

Oh, I forgot the photo of the cat patiently watching me chase butterflies and obviously saying to herself "People are so clumsy and crazy".
