Frillylilly, there are trees that have an upright habit (fastigiate) even though the "regular" tree shape is normal, although maybe that's what you were thinking, wasn't sure? An example that came to mind when I looked at Frank's picture was Prunus serrulata 'Amanogawa' but the flowers don't look right, they do indeed look more like an apple. The bark would be closer with cherry though, as Janet mentioned.
