Even homemade succulent mixes need some store bought ingredients. Buy a bale of cheap potting soil and a bale of perlite. Mix them 2/3 potting soil to 1/3 perlite. You can go as high as 1/2 soil and 1/2 perlite.

I'm not sure what the question about the Clematis means. Confused
