I also tend to think there is an instant gratification factor in buying lilies from big box stores. Some folks aren't sure how to grows things and buying a plant potted that is already growing (and well on its way to flowering) means they at least will have it bloom once....and very soon at that.

When I first started with lilies, I had no idea that there even were people who specialized in them. There were a couple greenhouses nearby that offered quite the variety as well. Kept me happy until one day, when I met Dave's Garden and my world of lilies and growers opened up.
