I buy parts from Home Depot. The main line is 1/2 inch tubing which I run through the garden and either add mini-sprinklers or drippers. You can get distance from the main line with 1/4 inch line. I converted sprinklers to drip so can use the built in timers on the irrigation box. If running from a faucet, find a timer that hooks to the hose bib and into the drip line. DIG is my favorite timer brand. The one sold at HD stops working on the first hot day - just when you need it.

Here are a couple photos:

Photos of the drip line running through the plants. Eventually, the plants get big enough to hide the drip line or you can bury them. I water 10 minutes at a time 3 times a week. I live in the high desert - the soil is gritty sand so I have dug in a lot of compost.
