What's your beef! ??? I love it when I get a thumbs up and acorns. It's just our way of showing appreciation for the comments, pictures, and contributions to the data base. And when I feel appreciated it gives me motivation to continue to contribute to this site. If you're not impressed by others' contributions (and there are a few who aren't, looking at their profile)...well, that's on you! You definitely do not have to be a part of any of it!
There was a former member who had made it known that she did not want thumbs up or acorns and refused them; didn't ever buy badges either which requires acorns for purchase.. Well, she was so rude to members on the forum so many times that finally admin. had to do something.
So please, do not question our system of giving rewards...this is different from trying to motivate students in a classroom!
