I agree, Sensitive Briar but I have no idea which one, possibly Sensitive Briar (Mimosa microphylla) which is found in both Alabama and Florida. http://www.alabamaplants.com/P...

Or maybe Nuttall's Sensitive Briar (Mimosa nuttallii)
