I did have this happen to an oriental last year.... it split 9 ways and bloomed 9 flowers......one per plant.... but the year before the bulb did not come up at all and people on here thought the plant was working on the bulb instead..
but this time it does not seem that way since they are not first year bulbs and they all bloomed last year nicely......
It does not seem to be any real answer from the lily breeders as well........
I did notice though that some lilies of the same variety...... the news one are up about 8 inches or so and last year bulb is up 4 feet but it is on the south side of the house
anything south seems to be doing really well. The lilies on the East are the slowest of them all here......
Even the North has some beds with good growth on them....
