Maybe if the bromeliad would be shaded by taller plants in the planter, it would do ok. But I wouldn't take a chance on putting it in there until the tall plants get established.

How about posting a picture of the container you're thinking of putting it in?

And yes, please let us know where you are because your climatic conditions will also help determine the answer to your question.
