My Golden chain tree is about 12 years old now and the last couple of years when it blooms the chains are shrinking in size. They used to be over 1foot long and just beautiful, but last year they were only about 8 inches long and this year they were even smaller at 4 inches long. The leafs aren't as plentiful and the limbs don't seem to grow anymore either. it does have some mossy looking stuff growing on the middle of the trunk.

Is there anyway to fix it with a spray or anything. I really don't want to loose this tree but if I can't get it fixed by this fall I'll take it out. I'd rather save it though since I've had it so long.

I also cut off the spent flowers when they are done every year and I haven't done that yet, but plan on doing it next weekend. I'm sending a picture of it and you can also see some of the mossy looking stuff growing on the limbs too.

Any help to try to save this tree would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mark
