Missy, your description of the vine sounds like Air potato vine, but the leaves don't look quite right -
Air Potato (Dioscorea bulbifera)
Also, air potato can be invasive as it produces tubers on the vine, which drop and root wherever they fall. Or, birds may spread them, making them a nuisance plant in some areas. Maybe someone else will chime in.
