Hi Jen !! If the end is clean and dried over you can put it a couple inches deep in your rooting media...If the end is ugly you may elect to cut it but then dry it out on a piece of newspaper in a shaded area for a week to 10 days before planting...That is what worked for me....I used a rooting hormone also but I am sure that many do not..I am sure other more experienced plumie people will help here also...Have a good day !!
