Sometimes it seems we have daylilies that we see everyday and that are so common we no longer pay attention to them. I have found me doing this especially with daylilies that multiply rapidly, a trait I very much desire, but then seem to give the plant no credit when it happens. One of the best performing plants in my garden is so good at multiplying (along with a couple of others) that often it seems to be associated more with the weeds than with the daylilies. Of course Kwanso/Flore Pleno is in that class here in my garden, a terrific performer but I just keep digging them out by the dozens it seems.
But, the one plant I actually had in mind is Crimson Pirate. That little thing multiplies like crazy here and sends out dozens of blooms, yet I seldom or maybe never have mentioned it in my best performer in the garden list.
So today I want to give credit to Crimson Pirate as being a great garden performer.
