The damage looks like slug/snail damage. You can pour beer in small low containers like canned fish or cat food comes in. The slugs and snails will avoid Bugetta/snail pellets in favor of a swim in beer. It doesn't have to be premium beers, but it can't be the non-alcohol or near beer variety...They go for the hoppy.yeasty full strength stuff. Tuck the tins around the garden before dark, and give them a look in the morning.
