One of these years I will show lilies. I just never have the time at the right time, or don't have any worthy ones to show at that date.

I did get to see this year's North Star Lily Society show here in Minnesota. My friend, Forrest, brought in a gigantic Lilium leichtlinii stem. It had more than 30 buds and flowers! Those of you on the yahoo lilium group will recall the recent discussion on same. I haven't seen King David to compare, but I am inclined to think it is the real thing.

I went this time mainly because I was so proud of my Lilium majoense. I wasn't willing to sacrifice much of the stem. I brought it just to show and not enter. Everyone erroneously thought it was Lilium nepalense.

They produced loads of pollen, and I slapped it on everything I could find, whether there was a prayer of successful fertilization or not. I haven't yet taken inventory of which crosses are producing pods, but I don't think many, if any from majoense took.

Okay, I had to go out and take a look....
It seems the only majoense cross that took is
L. davidii var. wilmottiae x L. majoense

I did cross one of Pards trumpet seedlings with a mixed pollen (L.majoense and one of my aurelian seedling from above). That one is a bit mishapen, so you never know...
