Hi Sherry,
I'm not sure if you mean gophers to be what we call here -"groundhogs" -the big burly fur balls that chew down anything in sight...I've had a bit of trouble with groundhogs which is an understatement. That little stinker ate a lot of nice plants last year and sadly enough chewed the asclepias incarnata like it was a blade of grass. Not sure if they do the same in your part of the country.
