It would be helpful to have an idea of where you are located and what your gardening conditions are. Did the beets receive adequate water? Had you recently fertilized them? Were they being eaten by any kind of bugs that you could see?

It seems quite strange that they would all just die like that... is there any possibility that they got hit by some type of herbicide?
