Yes, cut it off. It will re-branch at the nodes just below your cut so decide where you want new growth and plan accordingly. I usually advise people to cut two leaf nodes below where they thnk they should.

With yours, I would cut that entire top 'arm' off. You have two coming up from the bottom (looks like two). I would cut so that the third 'arm' will branch at the same height as the two others. The braided part is decorative at this point. Leave it or cut it out, depending upon how you feel about it.

The best part is that you can root the part you cut off and add it to the pot.
