Three Davissons here, all disappointments. The best is Mister Butters, in its fourth year and has never put up a scape higher than maybe 24 inches. I have never gotten the listed bud count, either. Nevertheless, I love the flower, lemon yellows are my favorite shade of yellow and it is fragrant. When I bought these, I was careful to go for the semi-evergreens, for Judy makes a point about her hard dormants not doing well in warmer climates. Mister Butters is planted in what I consider a premier spot, plenty of sunshine, plenty of water, good soil and some fertilization. IMO, it should be doing wonderfully well, but now I wonder if it needs that colder climate to perform the way it should.
