Just cut open the largest of the fruit and discovered a soft flesh with large seeds developing. Took a bite and instantly my mouth was coated in slime...not appetizing at all!! Making me think that what we probably have is a cross pollinated hybrid between a summer squash (zucchini) and one of the neigbhors winter squashes (I believe they had spaghetti squash next door last year).
