I have two cats that will eat anything green. So, my vases are on the wall. My orchids are not poisonous to them and for the most part they leave them alone. My cats are indoor only, which could be part of the problem. I had tried giving them cat grass every so often, but actually found it to be counterproductive. They'd just want more. So I quit.

I have my lily seedling room closed off, but when I take them out, the cats all show up.

Having been in the Vet ER a few times, apparently lily poisoning is a big issue for cats, especially around Easter (Easter Lilies). There is a sign with a cat and a lily with the dangers of what eating any part of a lily will do to them. Many plants with cause digestive upsets, but lilies can kill them fairly quickly.

We have feral cats outside that leave my lilies alone. They eat squirrels, chipmunks, moles...lilies..not really on their to do list. I actually don't notice them eating any plants, not even our wild cat nip.

Having had this conversation with a few vets over the years, apparently there are those cats that are plant eaters and those that aren't. There was actually a study being done a few years back too on this very subject.

My cat growing up never ate any plants. It was nothing I ever had to worry about. The ones I have now do and I know it, so I am very cautious.

Every single part of the lily is poisonous to cats. They pose a clear danger, just be aware of that.
