It will still turn a lovely color in fall, you can often see it on the side of the road all up and down the Carolina's where as the Staghorn Sumac is typical found only in the Greenville area of SC and mountains of NC. I seen your name was UpstateSC and assumed you lived in Greenville/Spartenburg area but after looking at the closeup photo I totally agree with Feng.
