I use the term "stalk" to indicate the primary inflo-stem from the branch. As you pointed out, there can then be several stems growing from that single stalk. I have some multi-branched/tipped plants with a stalk on more than one branch. It appears (thanks for the time-line) that each of your flower forms/colors are blooming at distinctly different times. I guess that could be simply related to heat/sun, but I sure don't know. My thinking is that if I am seeing splash-petals, what's so different in seeing different forms and colored flowers on the same plant. I simply don't see the distinction. I guess we can all agree that what you have on your plant has nothing to do with a virus, right?
