Your plant looks like Schefflera. I would say that you've done good! Give it time to settle in. Recuperate, and it will let you know, when you begin to see growth/new growth....I think you've done all you can do at this point.
Let it settle in.
I have a dracaena/Corn plant that I found in a similar condition...I didn't want a plant with a root ball full of worms, so I did as you did...It has recovered nicely....
