Yes, once you let I. purpurea go to seed, you have it around forever! The japanese MGs by comparison... seems like they have to be started early in order to harvest mature seeds by frost. I put them in hanging baskets one year, and that was wonderful. They climbed around the framework of my canopy on the back deck, and I brought them inside when it got cold so they could keep growing until their seed pods matured.
