@joshan I found latitude and climate information for Chennai, India. We have just about the same latitude, but it is warmer there than here on our island. During the summer your balcony will not get any direct sunlight if it is receded or has another balcony or ceiling over it. At any other time of the year your balcony will receive sunlight.

If your apartment has an east or west facing window you could place your plants in the house by the window where the sunlight comes in. If not, then you might consider electric grow-lights for your plants. In order to survive and grow, plants must get some direct light.
