'Banned in Boston' is a dormant diploid introduced in 1994 by Simpson-D.. No further information can be found on this hybridizer except that there currently 53 cultivars listed by this hybridizer.

Banned in Boston is a mid-season bloomer with possible re-bloom. It has earned the Honorable Mention: 1998 AHS award. It has a rust resistance rating of 1.0.
