Secret #1: Read this forum. I looked at pictures from people like Chris and Lynn and copied what they were doing.
Secret #2: Move to Canby, a well known agricultural paradise of fine soil and Goldilocks climate.
Secret #3: Provide sunshine (thank you, God), add water and wait for a year.
Secret #4: Don't post pictures of poorly performing plants.

I mentioned waiting one year because it seems to me that a new transplant reaches its moment of perfection after approximately a year... give or take... and depending on variety. Alot of my plants are near the one year mark. After that there's crowding and bloom holes and such. I can see various maintenance chores coming up that I didn't have to deal with before... mostly thinning out of overgrowth.
