In a similar vein, the Mexican Spanish word for a barrel cactus is "biznaga" or "bisnaga" (same pronunciation, used interchangeably). The former spelling is what appears in my two guide books for native plants. The word comes from the Nahuatl (indigenous language of Mexico). It would be great if "biznaga" could be added to all Ferocactus entries, since that's the word you would use to refer to them when talking to somebody on the street. The plants are native to Mexico and the SW US.

Here is the parent entry, which has the alternate spelling. The individual species I checked do not have this name. Can you help?

Barrel Cactus (Ferocactus)

Thank You!
