Do you have trouble with daylilies frost heaving out of the ground in winter? I would put a couple of rocks or bricks around each plant to prevent that happening and then mulch them in with chopped leaves or whatever you use. I did this when I got a couple of daylilies that arrived late in the season for us, they did fine.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!
