That's exactly when i harvest mine (essentially the same zone).

Welcome to NGA, @Vernonia -- it would be helpful if we knew where you are located, when to plant and when to harvest garlic depends on your climate. However, I go by the rule that there need to be at least 3 green leaves left on the garlic plant as it starts dying back, because each leaf represents one layer of "wrapper" around the garlic bulb. (when I first tried growing garlic I thought I could let the tops completely die back, like onions; all I can say is, don't do that; all that will be left is a bunch of loose garlic cloves underground, pretty darned difficult to harvest!)
