Deer and vole troubles coupled with afternoon sun is going to drastically reduce the plants that are going to be happy in this garden.

Although... it's hard to go wrong with zinnia...

Maybe try sowing some annual poppies next month... nothing much bothers them until they set seed...

4x6 is really small for a cutting garden... Usually a cottage garden is like the entire yard...
