Hopefully you have things solved by now, Anna, but if you still have problems, perhaps you could connect a USB cable to the camera and transfer the images that way? This is the way I always do it as I don't like to move memory cards if I don't have to. I don't use a Canon, but assuming that is what you have, I found this instruction:
