Welcome! to NGA

If you nick the embryo the seeds will rot.

When I scarify small seeds (grape seeds fit my definition of small), I use my emory board. The whole idea of seed scarification is to get through the top coating of the seed. It doesn't take much - a couple rubs on the emory board will do it.

If its a large seed, use the nail clippers. Taking a little nip out of the tip will be enough.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming...."WOW What a Ride!!" -Mark Frost
