You are in a warmer zone so I can understand waiting to plant.
Here we have to get them in early before the ground freezes.
Daffodils, especially, need a longer rooting period of several weeks in the fall.
Tulips can be planted later, as they only require about one week or ten days of fall rooting.
But I am planting all the varieties now, as I layer the daffodil bulbs over the tulip bulbs as I plant them. The squirrels love the tulip bulbs, but not the daffodil bulbs.
