I have a Rose of Sharon, but it's in my fenced yard, so don't know if the deer like it. I've put up cages with fencing around a few plants outside the fence. More because of the wild hogs than the deer, but would help with the deer also as long as the cage is large enough and tall enough to deter nibbling on the foliage. To be on the safe side, only plant things the deer don't usually like to eat outside your fence. The deer went after some wild four o'clocks this year...so now I know that is deer candy. It's been a bad year for wildlife damage because this year and last year had rainy seasons and the wildlife produced more young.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White
Integrity can never be taken. It can only be given, and I wasn't going to give it up to these people. Gary Mowad
