I live in Las Vegas where it's hotter than blazes in the summer time. I have two pomegranate trees growing along the south end of my home. So the trees get all the sunlight of the day. I have been having problems with the fruit on both of the trees. It seems that most of the pomegranates tend to prematurely develop cracks and "burst" open as a result. On some it's obvious that significant sunlight was a contributing factor. But I'm also thinking that too much of a particular vitamin or nutrient can also cause them to burst. For instance I drink a lot of coffee and so I always throw used coffee grounds into the soil of the trees. Maybe it's too much nitrogen or phosphorus? I'm really not sure. I would greatly appreciate any knowledge or know-how on the problem. Thanks.
