Over the weekend.... I walked around looking at the plants that I can barely keep alive... Perfect plants for your location...

Flowering ginger, curcuma, canna, swamp hibiscus, coastal hibiscus, apostle lily (crinum),  milkweed... Try tropical milkweed and swamp milkweed.... ruellia brittonia, button bush, blueberry, tibouchina.

Let me think a bit more... I bet I can totally add to this list... Mississippi rainfall is totally something amazing.... A buddy used to call the place 'missus slippy'.
One time... I pitched a teepee that evening, and after it rained all night, my teepee was on an island in the middle of a lake.... And.... You shoulda seen the people with tents underwater!
