You need to put the milky spore out in the fall. It attacks the larva in the soil. We had them really bad last year. I ordered milky spore online and put it out last fall. We didn't have any Japanese Beetles this year. As long as there's Japanese Beetle grubs in the ground the milky spore will spread. My problem this year was caterpillars and stink bugs.
